Talking about The Prince's Rainforest Project

I just came across this Myspace entry for the Rainforest Project of Prince Charles and decided to give a digital signature to the cause. :)

I was just reading about how fast we consume our forests in an article about the plight of Sitka Spruce trees in Alaska...so I thought pledging for this cause is not a bad idea :)

Sooner or Later Acoustic on youtube

Sooner or Later is the first single off Michelle Branch's new album "Everything Comes And Goes". It's available on itunes store US :)

Now in this video, she talks about a bit of background and does an acoustic performance :) Studying this so I can pick up on how she plays it :)

    Ghost Hunt!

I just finished watching this anime series Ghost Hunt yesterday and I must admit, it did spark some interest in occult stuff (much to the joy of a certain friend of my lol).

    Ghost Hunt

In life, I always thought it cool to have some sort of psychich ability. In my case, I am most attracted to psychokinesis. I've had these dreams when I was kid of being able to move stuff around with just the mind (probably because lazy as I am, if I had it, what more could I ask for <3).

Anyway, going back to the anime series, I was surprised to see that some of its references to actual occult beliefs were quite accurate. And it even had some episodes mirroring actual paranormal events that we have today (e.g. Winchester house - never ending construction).

I think it's a good watch :) (Though if you are like my other friend who has "a biiiig imagination", skip out :O some of the visuals are indeed scary enough to rob sleep).

    Edit:

OMG when I said I saw myself in one of the lead characters Naru, I was only like quarter serious..but to have him the save birthday as mine :O Uncanny!

    Ground Zero

Well last Friday was my last day at work. I filed a leave for this whole week up until my last day. A mix up actually. Initially we were mandated by my mom that our trip would be April 24...to only discover like last Wednesday that her visa did not make it (but the ours were already done) so the date has to move to May 8 (Whoopsie..goodbye voting..hello having my name stolen by some flying voter out there).

Honestly, I was sorta lost that day because I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing...I did not finish turning in all my equipment but good thing Cherry the AA was nice enough to sign my clearance sheet anyway. Now I just need my manager's approvals.

Wasting away time while burning back ups of my office files, I was just sitting in my cube reading the history of Blood Elves because I had a feeling people just wanted me to stay put in my seat. Messages like "Asan ka?" or unsaid "Get out"'s are enough of a hint for me to just stay in my seat.

Nothing much scheduled anyway. Not a very busy day :) Relief for me. "Lying amongst the periwinkle with the sunshine on my nose".

For what happened in the evening I guess I have a lot of people to thank for :) Sure did not expect some people to go through so much trouble just to make my leaving very pleasant :)

Thanks to Yanks and Gerald for the drawing books :) Hopefully they will help me catch up where I left off like years and years ago.

Thanks to Chris, Pat, Kuya Drei, Jonats, VF team and I dunno contractors as well for the very fancy looking CVS store with all the people close to me at work. Didn't get to read the messages though cos I read very slow so I hope I can still get a copy of that store :) Thanks for the pens and the comics as well :)

Thanks to all the people who got featured in that Virtual Store. You guys know who you are (lol).

Thanks to Mama Des for dropping by my cube :)

Thanks to Jon Ray for sharing his err "fondest memory of me" though uh nahiya ako nun cos I didn't really think the stuff I do mattered that much (lol).

Thanks to the Regcom people and to Debby for dinner. Likewise, to my batchmates in HP thanks also for making the time to have lunch with me :)

Thanks to my managers Jay, Marc, Bacchus for the opportunities in HP.

Thanks to everyone who shook my hand and wished me luck.

Bru thanks. Didn't want you to go through all the trouble but you did anyway.

    THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKS.

OMG! Thanks to rufftoon in Deviantart, I got to see a short for Avatar the Last Airbender.

The chibi art is just soooo cute :D

Plus I was so glad to see that I actually understood the chinese message that Aang wrote to Katara towards the end :))

    Wow! World of Warcraft

So far, the past 2 months, my brother and I have been busy playing World of Warcraft. We only share 1 account, but it's all complete with the latest expansion "The Burning Crusade".

This is my main character in server Dragonblight: Schel

Level 41 mage, aspiring to be a specialist in the fire tree with a bit of arcane mastery. Yes. She is a gnome. She is tiny like hell. And I've gotten a lot of remarks about how hard it is to click her in a crowd.

Before sleeping, I couldn't resist trying out the new horde race, the Blood Elves.

I made an alternate in the Barthilas server: Belegora (named after the mage I made in Puzzle Quest. Name was randomly assigned to me)

Woohoooo! Way foxy man! :D I mean this is the complete opposite of my "horizontally/vertically challenged" gnome. This is a warlock.

So far, my aim is to get my main to 60 and at least survive with my alt in the PVP server she resides in. Wouldn't be too worried. My alt is in good hands since my cousin and his friends will be there to "resbak" if ever she gets ganked.

For the Alliance! and the Horde!

    SSD

Bored of reviewing for my exam, I stumbled across this article on BBC New Health: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/medical_notes/2988972.stm

It's about Single Sided Deafness. My ear impairment. If finally has a medical term! OMG!

Actually, both my sister and I suffer from this. Ever since we were born, our left ears were already quite dysfunctional.

For me, I have very diminished hearing. Assuming I tune into my Ipod on normal volume (about half the bar), my left ear does not pick up the audio sounds properly. They usually come out muffled and incomprehensible unless I crank up volume to like 100% (ok not normal, do not try unless you want to feel a sudden jolt).

I was doing some reading and there are a bit of technology out there available to help solve the problem of SSD. Hmmm. Probably expensive though.

I was reading another blog, and the guy says he's learned to compensate by turning his head, etc.

For me, I compensate by moving to someone's left side when walking...though I've yet to fix the problem of not being able to answer people calling me because I couldn't hear them (either you shout, tap the table or err shake me up).

I guess the medical article is right in saying my impairment does pose dangers to me. Like since I am unable to tell which direction sound is coming from, I may have trouble crossing the street if I am crossing with my left side facing the oncoming traffic. If I don't hear a car coming == boom.

In any case :)) That's why you have to have good friends who will tell you if there is something you are not hearing right <3 No impaired person will live without all the love and care <3

How I wish I could use it as an excuse to park in handicapped parking :P

    Sunny Singapore

I am on a business trip to Singapore right now. Didn't start off as well as I thought. Left a couple of essential items at home like my company badge and my ever reliable optical mouse.

While waiting for breakfast, hehe...talking to Erwin validates even more that I may not be fit to be a tester. On a review of my own set of skills, I am not a very "adventurous" person in the sense that when I use software, I usually follow the proper way to use them. Seldom do I think of what can possibly be done that can out-do the logic of the program. For the most part, I depend on what other people discover. Secondly, I am not very OC either. Enough said.

Even at the level of testing games hahaha, I remember being part of beta testing for Tantra and never finding any bugs :)))) Other people I think got loads of free stuff because they kept finding lots.

Hahahaha...howell. It's the learning the counts I guess.

    :(

I feel really sad because tomorrow, both my desktop and my laptop will be going to their respective service centers. Both are broken.

Jesse's motherboard might be defective since it is experiencing constant random shutdowns/power downs.

    Munzky's battery/charger port is broken.

    Huhuhu...

    Gadgets in review

Sort of to document all the things I've invested in for this year 2006, I did a write up. It can be found here http://lim.she.googlepages.com/Gadgetsinreview.pdf

In brief, it's just a run through of the specs of my current desktop and my DS lite :)

    Enjoy!

    Audiophiles?

Tweaking my sound card/speakers to sound better...I stumbled across this equalizer formula in http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040902070807431&mode=print

Open the equalizer, and from the pop-up menu, select "Make Preset." Call it "Perfect," because it is, and set the following levels, from left to right (skip the Preamp section):

    db +3, +6, +9, +7, +6, +5, +7, +9, +11, +8 db

The image to the left (full-size image) shows about what it should look like when you're done. Make sure you check the "On" box to activate the equalizer, too. These settings produce absolutely the best balance I've ever heard. My home computer speakers are ablaze with sound now.

Am testing it out for the rest of the week :D but so far so good :D

Thanks bru for the nice speakers :D

    I finally finished Ouendan!!!

Now, when people borrow my DS, they will see that I have unlocked all the levels of the game. Painstakingly mind you.

    Hats Off!

Just to say thanks to my Kris Kringle Mama Joy for giving me a cool blue cap :D I'm posting a pic of all the caps I currently have in my cabinet.

I admit, I don't have a lot :) But I'd like to think I have more than the average person. I started keeping caps when I was about 3rd year college. I don't exactly know how I got started but I just did :)

When do I use these caps? Usually, when I commute, or when I go to outings, I bring one just in case it rains :)

So much for that :D This post kinda reminds me of the time I posted my LARGE MUGS collection :)) I compared my mugs to a standard 50 CD spool. Suprisingly, some folks over at theSpoke bought that and got into an exchange of pictures with me :D

    Risks

    Today was almost super crappy.

From the moment, I got up I got super scolded for admitting I was super tired to go out.

Then those doggone stores in Greenhills refused to cooperate and give me my DS.

But then, for some lucky star, TipidPC found me a polar white DS complete package for Php11,500 (Much thanks to Mr. Zoink and my brother).

Now, I have access to Ouendan in the comfort of my own home, at last :) (But thanks still to Yanks for letting me play all the time).

I did the easy level straight up...failed once at Ready Steady and Go but picked up my beat and finished it.

Now, I'm at the Horse stage in normal mode but I don't want to continue because I haven't put my screen protector on yet. I'll be needing Charlie's help for that :)

Ahhh...tomorrow...it's on to challenging people...just kidding. I think I'm rusty already. Need to regain my beat :) Did get an S in the third level of normal mode :) Soon...there will be S's everywhere!

    Crabby Crabby

Hay. I hate the fact that I am such a crammer now.

I just finished my artworks for this little project I got from Maam Didith. I do not really mind if it gets used or not :) I appreciate the exercise. It made me realize how much more I need to work up if I am to seriously consider art ;))

As much as I tried to work early, I guess I'm just not the type who can juggle a million things at the same time...I still ended up finishing right on the dot of my deadline instead of earlier. Maybe next time :D

    ----------------

OK..I'm such a crank. Hehehehe...I got up again with another bad cloud because I lack sleep. To those who will get in my way and experience my wrath...advanced sorry. If you are wise, just stay quiet and do not bugger me :))

    ----------------

Changing ringtunes is a pretty cheap service for my mobile phone. I gifted a christmas tune to my mom so when her clients call her, they get greeted by "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" by the Carpenters. I still maintained my Sam Milby bit for normal callers as a continuing effort to annoy my sister. For my caller ID ringtune to Kaila, I put yet another Sam Milby song because the stupid database could not find me anything else. Close up power!

    ----------------

I went to Santiis and cleaned out their supply of wafer choco bars by recommendation of my sister. This is what I'm giving out to my officemates, something different from the pencil cases I gave out last year. My 2 year mark in the company is near! Wooohooooo!

    ----------------

I just want to sleep today wah.
    December 13

    Gearing up

This Christmas, I bought a lot of new stuff for my desktop Jesse to make him more ready to take on serious work in terms of my graphics/video editing hobby.

    1. I got a new DV capture card: InnoDV DV 1000 LE (Php 1000)

Mighty convenient to have this attached to Jesse instead of my laptop Munzky since Jesse has a lot more hard drive space, which means I don't have to worry about losing space even before my capture ends.

    2. I got a new headset (C/O my mom...many thanks): SBC HP250 (Php 1500)

This headset has a 6m long cable, which is good because that means I can hook it up to my computer and not worry about getting my neck pulled if I suddenly move around the room. It has really big cups for the ears :) surprisingly comfy because my ears do not hurt even after hours of wearing it. Now I can edit videos with very clear sounds without disturbing people.

    3. I got a new 5 in one card reader: CDR King (Php 250)

Munzky had this fantastic 5 in one card reader which I could never live without, so I thought it fit for Jesse to have one too for convenience. Ahiya Jurico recommended this buy actually, and I will agree that it is very cheap. I just hope it doesn't break down too easily.

There are still more stuff to get...but those will come next time...

    DS! DS! Here I come!

    Shopping

I did partial Christmas shopping today. Frankly, it was not as productive as I only managed to shop for 2 items.

Will try again within the week. :)

A fool and his money are soon parted :D
